Because it arrived exactly where certainty left. Millennials hit adulthood into a financial crisis, a housing market that closed, careers that stopped being ladders, and a decline in the institutions that used to hand people a story about their life — and astrology offers structure, vocabulary, and the sense that a hard season is a season rather than a verdict. It is also genuinely good at what it is good at: giving you words for something you had not articulated. The mistake is only ever the last step — treating a symbolic system as a source of facts about the future.

Nothing sociological is astronomical. The positions are real; the reason a generation reaches for them is a question about the generation, not the sky.

What the tradition says (interpretation)

Astrology has always grown in periods of instability — it is a very old pattern, not a millennial invention. What is new is the delivery: an app pushing a daily notification is a different relationship with the tradition than an annual consultation with an astrologer who knew your family.

Keep the part that works and notice the part that does not. It works as a mirror — a structured prompt to think about what you actually want, in a life that gives you very little occasion to. It stops working the moment it becomes an authority you check before deciding, because then it is absorbing the uncertainty rather than helping you act inside it.
