It feels accurate mostly because of the Barnum effect: in a classic 1949 experiment, people handed an identical, vague personality profile rated it as an excellent description of themselves — averaging above 4 out of 5. Statements like "you appear confident but privately question yourself" are true of nearly everyone, so they land as uncanny. The underlying planetary positions these apps use are usually real and exact; the leap from those positions to a sentence about your day is the part with no evidence. We say this as the people who compute the positions.

What's actually true — the astronomy

The astronomy in a good app is genuinely correct — Co-Star sources ephemeris data ultimately derived from NASA/JPL, and the positions in your chart are real to a high precision. Try the honest experiment: next time a reading lands, ask whether it would have felt wrong if it said the opposite. "You need connection but also solitude" has no opposite that anyone would reject — that is the tell. Keep the app if it prompts useful reflection; that value is real and it is coming from you. Just do not let it arbitrate a decision, because on that job it is a coin flip with good copywriting.
